Essay Contest


During the month of August International Student hosted an essay contest, encouraging everyone to submit their best short essay for a chance to win a gift card of their choice in the amount of $200 (first place), $75 (second place), and $25 (third place).

In addition to the winnings, the three winners receive the honor of having their essay and short bio, published on International Student – a site reaching millions of international students each year.

*Rules & Regulations for the 2013 International Student Essay Contest:

  1. The deadline for applications is 5:00 PM, EST on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Applications submitted after that time will not be accepted.
  2. Three winners (first, second, and third place) will be selected by an judging panel consisting of International Student employees.
  3. You must be 18 or older and be a resident in a jurisdiction in which the International Student Essay Contest and all of its terms and conditions are compliant with all applicable laws. In addition, you must reside in a jurisdiction in which payment to you of the prize money is not prohibited by any US federal, state or other applicable laws.
  4. Your essay entry will be the property of InternationalStudent.com.
  5. The winner of the International Student Essay Contest will be announced on our website and social media the week of September 23, 2013.
  6. The winner will also be notified by email.

The University of Pittsburgh’s Jospeh M. Katz Graduate School of Business is hosting an invitational case competition that will showcase the skills and talents of participating MBA students.

The case for the competition will be multi-dimensional, designed to test the teams’ ability to collaborate on different business disciplines. The case will give students the opportunity to evaluate a tough business situation in multiple perspectives in a very short period of time, and to present their recommendations to senior executives.

The ultimate goal is to allow students to apply their business education to deliver unique and creative recommendations.

KeyBank Foundation Minority MBA Case Competition

Deadline for submissions: 1 December 2017
The finals take place at the Ohio State University between 23-25 February 2018.

The KeyBank Foundation Minority MBA Student Case Competition is now considered one of the nation's premier minority MBA student case competitions. Sixteen universities from around the United States are invited to compete in this annual event, held in Cleveland at KeyBank Headquarters.

MBAAI Strategy Challenge

The MBA Association of Ireland (MBAAI) holds an annual case study competition called the strategy challenge. Held at Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin, the challenge brings together teams of MBA students from across Ireland.

Teams are required to prepare a strategic analysis of a case study inside four hours, and then make a 20-minute presentation to a panel of judges drawn from academia and industry.

Network of International Business Schools (NIBS) Worldwide Case Competition

The NIBS Worldwide Case Competition brings together elite undergraduate students from some of the world’s top international business schools. Teams of four analyse business cases, prepare solutions to real problems, and present recommendations to panels of senior managers, policymakers and academics. The competition is distinguished by its emphasis on international business and the challenges of doing business across cultures and borders.

The 2018 competition will be hosted by the Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala from 25 February - 2 March 2018. Registration will open in September 2017, with the qualifying round to be held in November 2017.

Nespresso Sustainability MBA Challenge

This competition challenges students from all over the globe to come up with new, creative and fresh ideas for its Creating Shared Value Strategy. This principle, developed by Harvard professors Michael Porter and Mark Kramer in 2006, maintained that companies had a responsibility to create and share value not just for shareholders but also for the communities in which they operate – from farmers through to customers and ultimately consumers.

Reaching Out MBA Case Competition

The ROMBA Case Competition offers MBA & graduate students an exciting opportunity to formulate strategic recommendations to a given problem and win up to $5,000 in the process.  Participants will also have a chance to present and discuss their ideas with a panel of judges from leading consulting firms, and interact with them more informally during a private reception.

The finals take place in Boston between 12-14 October 2017.

Russian National Case League Changellenge

This is the largest case competition series in Russia. Students work in teams of four on three different cases (one in the first round, one in the semi-final and one in the final). The case topics are kept secret until the competition starts. There are special English sections in two of the National Case League competitions: Cup Moscow (registration in November) and Cup Russia (registration in March). Students across the world are encouraged to participate and face real Russian problems and challenges. Each competition is judged by business leaders from top international companies such as A.T. Kearney, Accenture, BCG, EY, KPMG, Mars, Unilever and many others.

The Tournament In Management and Engineering Skills (TIMES) is the largest pan-European case study competition for Industrial Engineering and Management students. This prestigious, highly acclaimed event has gone from strength to strength since 1994 and attracts around 250 top teams each year.

Warwick Business School Case Challenge

The WBS Case Challenge is a great opportunity for global business school students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to collaborate and create innovative solutions to healthcare’s most pressing problems.

This student-led event offers participants the opportunity to network with MBAs and Masters students from across the globe and with plethora of people from the healthcare industry, including erudite academicians and researchers and potential employers.

The competition has been designed to encourage the convergence and intermingling of multidisciplinary teams that consist of not just MBA students but students from varied disciplines. WBS invites teams of 6 postgraduate and masters students, at least 3 of which must be MBA students, to compete for a grand prize of £4,500. There will also be a runner-up prize.
